About Me

Hello Everyone!

My name is Kristine and I've been working with students with Autism for 16 years! I started off as a teaching assistant, then moved into my first teaching position when I was 20, working with students ages 17-21 in a specialized center for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorders. After 8 years in this incredible environment, I went public (Side note: I also got a number of district interviewers really excited about a potential new catch phrase "Go public!" which has not gotten the public recognition it deserves just yet...) and built a brand new high school Autism Spectrum Disorders program within a public High School!

I decided to start this blog to share with you all the steps I have taken to get this program up and running, as well as share various materials, programs, and other resources I have developed to help my students and families over the years. You know the saying it takes a village to raise a child? Well it takes a fantastic community of educators to teach a child too, so let's be a community and share our resources!

I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I have enjoyed all of the teaching moments which brought it to light!

The best lesson I can share is that Autism, the teenage years are MIGHTY interesting (and fantastic)! Enjoy! If you ever have any questions, need any advice or are looking for specific resources please contact me!
If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn.
